AUSTIN -- The Texas Stars hockey team is sporting pink jerseys this weekend in honor of breast cancer survivors. However, they are not the only stars taking the ice. Two Central Texas survivors will join them.

Words are pretty powerful especially when you're in the fight of your life.

"I am stronger than cancer. I wouldn't mess with me either," said Victorious Val, a.k.a. Vallory Jones.

"I think I do deserve my own cape because I am my own superhero," said Jones. "I tried to stay positive. I created my alter ego ?Victorious Val?."

Jones found a BB-sized lump in her breast in 2011.

"The biopsy is the only thing that let us know I had cancer," she said. ?It was super scary.?

It was the last thing this 40-yea- old self proclaimed health nut ever expected.

"I'm super healthy. I'm fit. I work out five days a week. Not just cardio, I lift weights. I'm very strong. I eat right. I'm not a drinker, not a smoker,? she said. ?I'm like the picture of health and so all my friends were really shocked by it."

So Jones turned to a tool she often uses in her 7th and 8th grade English classes at Stiles Middle School -- her voice.

"The writing has helped me express myself. It's helped me get my message out to people. It's helped people know that you should get checked, you should do breast exams you should go and get your physicals," she said.

Jones writes blogs, songs and has even written a class favorite rap. She shared a little with us.

"I've been a middle school teacher 19 years and this is my motto through blood, sweat and tears. So keep your nose to the grindstone and let them hear you roar. Dream big dream smart and dream more."

Her lyrical lesson landed her in the spotlight this weekend. Jones won a Komen Austin contest to drop the puck for Friday's game at the Cedar Park Center.

"I try to get my kids to realize things can happen to them that are bad, but that doesn't mean that's the end or it's over,? Jones said. ?And it doesn't mean that you give up. For them to see their teacher in the rink. It's just a positive message I just want them to know you can do anything you set your mind to."

A powerful message from an inspiring teacher, who?s proof that positive thinking always wins.

"I'm not done yet," she said.

Jones has been cancer-free for a little more than a year.????

You've got another chance to honor breast cancer survivors Saturday night.

The game against San Antonio starts at 7 and you can get tickets for just $15 when you use the code PINK at this link.?
